Aciclovir is a prescription antiviral medicine that is used to treat a range of viral infections, including herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections of the skin and mucous membranes, shingles (herpes zoster), and chickenpox (varicella zoster). It can also be used in preventing herpes infections in people with low immunity. 

Aciclovir tablets are available in 200mg, 400mg & 800mg strengths. Different strengths may be used by the prescriber depending on the type and the severity of the infection.
