What is Urolithin A?

Urolithin A is a postbiotic — a compound your gut bacteria produce when they break down ellagitannins found in pomegranate, walnuts and berries. It’s become one of the most studied natural ingredients in longevity science because of what it does inside your cells: it supports mitophagy, the body’s natural process for clearing out worn-out mitochondria so healthier, more efficient ones can take their place.

Here’s the catch with getting it from food: only a minority of adults host the specific gut bacteria needed to convert pomegranate or walnuts into meaningful amounts of Urolithin A — and even those who do would need impractically large quantities to reach a research-level dose. Supplementing directly removes that lottery, giving every user a consistent, standardised 500mg.

Why the dose matters

The 500mg serving isn’t a marketing number. It matches the dose used in the landmark randomised, placebo-controlled trial published in Cell Reports Medicine (2022), in which four months of daily urolithin A supplementation was associated with improvements in muscle strength and markers of mitochondrial health in middle-aged adults. We formulate to the evidence, not below it — so you get the full researched dose in every capsule, not a fractional amount designed to look good on a label.†
